As part of its mission to support the building of Nigeria’s Esports ecosystem, TECNO HiOS recently partnered with League of Extraordinary Gamers Ltd (LXG) to deliver a first-of-its-kind interactive LAN esports tournament in Lagos, Nigeria. The tournament which was put together by League of Extraordinary Gamers Ltd (LXG) and Embassy of France in Nigeria saw gamers from different Esports teams converge on the Mike Adenuga Centre, Ikoyi Lagos to fight for a N300,000 prize pool.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Lagos State Sports Council, Sola Aiyepeku said Esports scene in Nigeria and Africa is emerging strongly as the next frontier of sports, pledging that the Lagos State government will continue to support such initiatives in the country.
Earlier on in the year, the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare gave the official government nod to esports, by declaring it a national sport and acknowledging its potential and place among Nigeria’s youth as well as the potential positive impact on the Nigerian economy as a whole.
Esports activities in Nigeria has seen a rise and this event in an indication of the attention esports is now commanding in Nigeria.
The LAN event tagged ‘Legends Extraordinary Club Open – LECO’ and TECNO HIOS joined hands with TECNO Mobile and Aha Games to make it run as smoothly as possible by sponsoring the mobile phones used for the games and prizes given to winners.
The event, which was also endorsed by global Esports bodies within and beyond Africa including Esports Nigeria, Esports Federation of Africa (ESFA) and World Esports Consortium (WESCO), was a smooth and exciting success.
It is indeed a new dawn in Nigeria esports.
